We are currently looking to fill the position of Library Clerk IV to join our Access Services, Patrick Power Library team.

    Job Information and Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Manager, Access Services, the Library Clerk IV will:

    • Financial Transactions, Inventory and ID Production: Act as operations resource person for cash register, Moneris (Debit/Credit) machines, ID production, and photocopier.
    • Keep inventory of supplies such as receipt paper for the cash register and item loan receipt printers.
    • Keep inventory and orders in supplies for year-round and annual ID productions including print ribbon, card blanks and patron registration forms.
    • Prepare bank deposit for verification and delivers to Service Centre.
    • Investigate and resolve cash related errors and acts as resource person for any cash related issues.
    • Keep statistics.
    • Circulation Desk: Charges out, discharges and renews General Loan, Periodical, Reserve Reading and Equipment items.
    • Creates and/or updates patron Records in database.
    • Confirms Study Room bookings; enforces time limits and the proper use of the rooms; resolves problems such as double bookings.
    • Identifies and explains fines on patron's accounts, accepts payment, and verifies payment.
    • Adds print credits.
    • Assists in training Student Assistants and new staff.
    • Security/Conduct: Checks patron identification.
    • Follow emergency procedures when alarm system is activated.
    • Notify campus security in cases of emergency such as power failure, medical emergency, robbery or threatening confrontation.
    • Desensitizes outgoing materials. Checks patrons' personal belongings for library materials when security alarm sounds.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Hours of Work

    • Monday-Friday: 7:30am-3:30pm
    • Saturday-Sunday: Off

    *Changes in hours or evening, weekend and holiday OT possible.

    Experience and Education Requirements

    To be the successful Library Clerk IV you will have:

    • Library and Information Technician (LIT) Diploma plus a minimum of one-year related experience or High School graduation and minimum two year's related experience.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Knowledge of MS Office, internet browsers and e-mail application.
    • Good working knowledge of an academic library and its resources.
    • Experience with an integrated library system an asset.
