Wage - $31.00 per hour

IT Support Technician

Summary


Under the direction of the IT Foreman, the IT Support Technician is responsible for functions involving the support of all District staff and student devices including but not limited to laptops, desktops, iPads, cellphones, copiers, printers, and computer peripherals.


The work involves the performance of a variety of technical tasks under limited supervision or in accordance with clearly established policies, procedures, regulations and/or codes.

Judgment is exercised in handling new assignments and determining new work methods with exceptions referred to the Foreman of Information Technology.

As incumbents become more familiar with District policies, procedures, and regulations, they will perform their duties with increased independence. Work is performed on-site and in the service workshop.


Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide intermediate level support to all District staff, both in-person and remotely.

Troubleshoot issues on District devices including Windows-based laptops, desktops, iPads, and cellphones.

Troubleshoot all District supported software, including all Office 365 products.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot peripherals including monitors, projectors, document cameras, copiers, printers, etc.

Manage and configure all district Apple products in the MDM system.

Provide support for network connectivity issues on LAN and WiFi.

Troubleshoot telecommunications issues on District telephone and PA systems.

Assist in maintaining all IT asset inventory.

Review and prioritize service tickets following the guidance of the administrators and the IT Foreman.

Follow the latest cybersecurity best practices, as implemented by the administrators.

Maintain a working knowledge of School District operational policies related to the position.

Provide support, technical advice and training to staff relating to the use and maintenance of all District-supported systems.

Performs other duties as assigned by the IT Foreman.


Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 graduation

Diploma in Computer Information Systems or Applied Business Technology

Valid B.C. class 5 driver 's license; a driver's abstract to be provided annually

Required Experience

Three (3) years of directly related work experience


Required Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge and ability to install and repair current computer hardware, software, networking systems and servers.

Experience dealing with regulations and codes, standard practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the position.


Knowledge of proper safety practices and the demonstrated ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others.


Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts, demonstrates a helpful and pleasant manner in dealing with others.


Proven ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing, ability to explain instruction or information clearly to others.

Ability to work in a cooperative team situation, aiding co-workers as required.

Ability to plan, coordinate and estimate work in an orderly manner and see the assignments through to completion.

Willingness to complete additional training as required.

Valid B.C. driver 's license.

Working knowledge of healthy and safe work practices in accordance with WorkSafe BC Regulations for Workers


NOTE:
A clear Criminal Record Review to be provided, and updated every five (5) years.


Hours:
Mon - Friday 7:00 - 3:30

Wage - $31.00/hr
