Description
Oxford International Juniors Programmes offer a range of ESL programmes at centres in Canada, the USA and the UK.

Our programmes aim to create a study experience of educational value, of cultural interest, and, of course, full of fun and memories to take home.

This role offers the opportunity to work with students aged 12-18 from all over the world.


Our Toronto summer program is based out of the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), where students receive a combination of 15 hours English language lessons per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions.

The activity programme will include daytime and evening activities as well as half-day and full-day excursions to attractions and places of cultural interest.

The program takes place from July 2nd to August 6th, 2023, though some work will likely be required before and after the program dates.


The Role


The Activity Manager is responsible for overseeing the full activities program for the Toronto Junior Programme, as well as managing an activity staff of 5-10 people.

This includes booking excursions and activities, coordinating transportation, managing payments and finances, and liaising with chaperones (Group Leaders) from various countries around the world.

A combination of people skills and organizational skills is essential for this role.

In this role, you will ensure that our activity leaders have all the tools and instructions required to escort students throughout Toronto's top tourist sites and organize entertaining on-campus activities.

The AM schedules and manages payroll for the activities team.

You will also a key point of contact for Group Leaders, who may want to make additions or changes to their schedule on arrival.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare welcome packs for new arrivals,
  • Plan, organize and implement a range of activities suitable for students,
  • Book and organize cultural excursions,
  • Liaise with college staff to ensure facilities are booked and ready,
  • Regularly meet with Group Leaders and college staff,
  • Ensure Group Leaders have all relevant information about their activities,
  • Coordinate transportation for all activities,
  • Ensure requests from students and group leaders are met promptly,
  • Implement changes from client feedback appropriately,
  • Create a positive atmosphere and motivate effectively,
  • Create & manage weekly staff schedules,
  • Hold daily activity staff briefings,
  • Monitor performance and conduct of activity leaders,
  • Respond to emergencies at any time,
  • Monitor outgoing expenditure and ensure all expenses are within budget,
  • Maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare,
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with staff and clients.

Requirements:


  • Proficient level of English speaking and writing.
  • A thorough understanding and experience of what makes a successful junior or summer programme.
  • Strong communication skills to deliver instructions clearly and effectively.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to cope with changing priorities.
  • A drive to work with fun, likeminded people to work collaboratively and contribute to team success.
  • The ability to lead and motivate staff to maximize performance.

It would be great if you:

  • Have previous management experience in a language school.
  • Are familiar with the TMU campus, and other Toronto attractions.

Salary:
$16.75-$18.00 per hour
