  • Emily Carr University of Art + Design is currently seeking qualified instructors to teach credit courses parttime in
    3D Computer Animation within the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media. Situated on unceded, traditional and ancestral xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territories in Vancouver, Canada, Emily Carr University is a worldrenowned learning and research community dedicated to the education of artists and designers.

The structure of each class includes presentations of material, demonstrations of techniques, reviews of work in progress, and details about assignments.

Outside of class, faculty prepare lessons, evaluate the students' work, provide feedback, answer questions and grade projects.-
Sessional Instructor - 3D Computer Animation (3DAN 213/3DAN 413)

  • Embark on a comprehensive journey into advanced 3D character animation, where students will immerse themselves in the art of developing compelling characters and scenes for storytelling and world building. Throughout this extensive course, students will develop and compose a myriad of movements and gestures, learning to adapt them seamlessly into animations that captivate audiences. Lectures, assignments, and handson exercises will guide students through the nuances of staging, character interaction, and emotional expression, utilizing techniques such as timing, gesture, and acting. With a focus on mastering body mechanics and character acting, students will craft believable character animations, culminating in a diverse portfolio that showcases their ability to animate everything from basic walk cycles to intricate dialogue scenes.
    Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field
  • Relevant professional practice.
  • Knowledge of critique and feedback strategies.
  • Experience working with people from diverse creative, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop lesson plans and prepare content for oncampus and/or online learning.
  • Postsecondary teaching experience a significant asset.
  • Experience with online education (including Moodle and Zoom) an asset.
