Position Summary:


The primary function of the Housekeeper is to ensure that routine cleaning duties are performed in a timely and competent manner under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

Housekeepers ensure a positive overall impression of the property as well as providing assistance to patients and ensuring clean and comfortable rooms.

Housekeeping services are coordinated so that mínimal disturbance is caused to patients and staff.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Cleaning and mopping washrooms, dining room, offices, chapel and common areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls, floors, cabinets and windows in common areas
  • Clean and sanitize high touch areas such as doors, handles, phones, etc. twice daily
  • Check and maintain stock of products supplied to patients in laundry rooms
  • Clean fish tank glass in Chapel
  • Responsible for monitoring the condition of the patient's rooms and forwarding recommendations to the monitor to report at monitor's meeting. When Admissions or Support staff are unable to do so, signing off on the room checklist when a patient is discharged from treatment.
  • Clean sinks, tubs, showers and toilets
  • Polish fittings and fixtures
  • Clean mirrors, windows and glass doors
  • Sort and wash, Iron, fold and distribute laundry
  • Empty and clean trash cans
  • Listen and respond to resident's queries and requests
  • Ensure adequate stock of cleaning supplies
  • Ensure cleaning equipment in good working order
  • Observe and report any maintenance issues
  • Report to Supervisor prior to performing duties outside the daily roster
  • Assist maintenance team as required
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs
  • Able to carry a up to 50 lbs
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to kneel, bend and crawl
  • Able to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals while following and utilizing required PPE and WHMS protocol
  • Able to listen and follow instructions
  • Effective communication skills
  • High degree of initiative and willingness to assist in any area required
  • Must work with minimum of supervision, set priorities, and work effectively with a variety of demands
  • Maintains a positive, professional attitude towards residents, staff, patients and visitors
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Able to follow and adhere to Edgewood policies and procedures
  • Ability to keep information confidential
