Job Summary:

Baycrest offers a full spectrum of out-patient clinics and specialist services from dental, hearing, chiropody foot care, cardiology, ear, nose & throat care, cardiology, urology, dermatology, eye care, all conveniently located on one campus of care. This position provides nursing care in the Ambulatory Medical Specialty Clinics. Be a part of 16 different physician and nurse-led specialist clinics e.g. ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Wound Care, Cardiology and more.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provides sound clinical knowledge and skills, acts as clinical expert and resource and provides comprehensive, quality client/family centred health care services from admission, through transfers and discharge

Plans for, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications, as well as treatments which fall within the RN's scope of practice

Provides client-centred care within interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients

Ensures that each specialty clinic functions smoothly as part of an inter-professional team (physician, RPN, PSW, Admin.)

Work closely with medical speciality physicians to establish plan of care for patients

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario ('CNO') is required

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support ('BCLS') certificate, Level C - Automated External Device ('AED') is required

BScN required, Masters preferred

Experience in working in a busy clinic environment,

Knowledge and experience working with people with memory disorders and dementia care required

Highly developed clinical assessment skills of clients with complex medical, cognitive and social required

Knowledge of brain anatomy and physiology

Psychogeriatric experience, including memory assessment and intervention in working with responsive behaviours required

Demonstrated ability to take professional accountability for leading, organizing, providing and delegating care activities for clients and families

Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills

Computer skills – Meditech, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
