8:30am to 4:30pm / Monday to Friday

Grade 7 ($66,984 to $89,312 per annum)

Our strategy, facilities, partnerships and resources are intentionally student-centred to foster dialogue, expression and open connections in support of the next generation of creative and cultural leaders.- The Graduate Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator, has primary responsibilities in graduate student recruitment and admissions in support of ECU's Strategic Enrollment Management plan.

The Coordinator works with the Manager, the Dean and Associate Deans of Graduate Studies, Graduate Office staff, faculty, Student Services and other areas in coordinating graduate-level and program-specific recruitment, admissions, and student onboarding, ensuring excellent Graduate student experience by supporting all relevant program administration as needed.

Some Typical Duties:


  • Support and participate in short and longterm Graduate recruitment and departmental strategic planning in alignment with the University's overall strategic plan.
  • Support prospective graduate students, applicants, and newly admitted students.
  • Under the guidance of Graduate Office leadership and in collaboration with Student Services, recommend and implement an annual recruitment strategy for local, regional, and international graduatelevel audiences.
  • Coordinate the preparation of promotional publicfacing content for all graduate programs in consultation with Communications. Maintain relevant publicfacing information.
  • Travel as needed for recruitment activities which may include occasional offsite local events, regional, national, and international travel, outside of regular business hours which requires flexibility in workdays and hours.
  • Prepare admissionsrelated assets, maintain relevant publicfacing information, and keep open communication with applicants to ensure conversion efforts are fulfilled.
  • Collaborate with Financial Services, Advancement Office, and Graduate Office on the distribution of appropriate acceptance packages. Coordinate processes for assigning students to paid positions through admissions in collaboration with Grad Office staff, Associate Deans, Research, faculties, and other stakeholders.
  • May lead, schedule, and manage Alumni Ambassadors, staff or external consultants as needed, including setting goals and monitoring performance and outcomes. May select and train casual or contract staff as required.
  • In tandem with Program Coordinator, Graduate Programs, lead graduate orientation event planning and execution in support of incoming students. Organize other fulsome student onboarding events and content.
  • Under the guidance of Manager, Graduate Studies Administration and Operations, maintain functionality of all relevant existing procedures, and recommend new business practices.
  • Ensure up to date graduatelevel guidelines, policies, procedures, and handbooks are maintained in connection with recruitment and admission activities and goals.
  • In tandem with Program Coordinator, Graduate Programs, plan and collect data via graduate student surveys.
  • Build strong relationships with key Emily Carr University stakeholders and maintain collaborative workflows with other administrative offices to ensure ongoing services to graduate students.
  • Attend relevant Graduate Office meetings. Keep informed of program milestones, pedagogical practices, curriculum, and graduate studies operations.
  • Foster a culture of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) by remaining current in JEDI trends that impact field of work and make recommendations to the Manager for improvements in support of the strategic goals of the University.
  • Perform other related work as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum three years related experience in a public postsecondary setting, including a minimum two years of experience in assessing academic or artistic admissibility, and in related recruitment activities.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education
