Payband/ Hiring Range:
Admin 06 / $95,00 - $115,000; salary will be based on experience & qualifications


What you will do:


Under the direction of the Acting Director PMO, the ITS Project Portfolio Manager will capture new project demands and will be the single point-of-contact responsible for the Project Intake process with the faculties, other service departments, and Information Technology Services.

The ITS Project Portfolio Manager will work with client partners to help identify and formulate initiatives and assist departments/faculties with developing proposals and business cases.

They will assess and document how the initiatives help clients achieve their objectives, while maintaining alignment with Humber's strategic and business plans.

The ITS Project Portfolio Manager will also facilitate prioritization of information technology project requests by the Digital Campus Committee.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Manage initial project requests, as well as gather the appropriate information to complete decision criteria and rubric to allow approval and prioritization of the request.
  • Prepare business cases, impact and costbenefit analyses, and outline project budgets. This work may include recommendations around reprioritizing work or grouping work with similar business outcomes, and processes
  • Ensure that the project intake process aligns and considers Humber's Strategic and Business Plans, in determining how business unit initiatives best add value to the organization
  • Recommend a portfolio approach that considers enterprise priorities, strategies and goals, emerging technologies, industry trends and economic viability to ensure Humber is undertaking the right projects
  • Coordinate the completion of project estimates required for the annual budget cycle.
  • Identify, review, and provide data to senior leadership around any significant initiative(s) or project(s) that are experiencing challenges and impacting the work of the larger IT Portfolio."
  • Provide recommendations to the ITS Senior Leadership team on enterprisewide efficiencies and synergistic opportunities. Support good financial stewardship by highlighting impacts of individual projects on the larger portfolio.
  • Engage, and conduct regular reviews, with the clients to validate and assess their desired project work Manage the implementation and maintenance of the project management tool supporting ITS. Manage the project analyst that is responsible for administration of the tool

What you bring to the role:

Education & Experience

  • Familiarity with one or more project/program management methodologies (such as PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile and MSP) is critical.
  • PMP Certification is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized, publicsector environment is also an asset as is experience in education.
  • Proving track record of diplomatic, management, and communication skills when liaising and advocating to internal stakeholders, government agencies, external vendors, and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to cultivate partnerships and work collaboratively in a team environment, and with internal and external resources.
  • Building a program and reporting/delivering executive level steering committee communication and packages.

Skills

  • The incumbent will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to capture and explain goals and objectives to business as well as technical leadership.
  • They will possess a high degree of political sensitivity, astuteness and the ability to effectively use the informal power structure.
  • They will have strong business acumen, including industry and domainspecific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units as well as familiarity with industry trends and innovation.
