Position Title:
Interim Assistant Program Head, Business (2 positions - one specializing in Management, Marketing, and Human Resources, and one specializing in Accounting, Finance, and International)
Status:
Full-Time Admin Contract (Sept. 1, May 3, 2024)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department:
University of Guelph-Humber, Business
Campus: 207 Humber College Blvd. (North Campus); on campus/in person collaboration only (5 days per week).
Payband/Salary Range:
NFT Admin 05 $71,973 - $107,961
What you will do:
Under the general direction of the Program Head, the Assistant Program Head supports the Program Head by providing academic and administrative leadership in their program area as required.
Administrative duties include assisting with staffing, budgets, recruitment and student life activities, while liaising with both partner institutions, the University of Guelph and Humber College.
Academic duties include teaching and curriculum development. The incumbent is required to act as Program Head when necessary.This position holds particular responsibility for ensuring that the professional and academic components of the program are respected and promoted within each of the partner institutions.
Areas of Responsibility Include:
- Provide administrative and academic support to the Program Head as required, which includes:
- Ensuring program outcomes are achieved through effective leadership and supervision of the teaching and learning processes.
- Establishing positive relationships with internal (faculty, staff and students) and external stakeholders.
- Initiating problem solving processes for disputes involving faculty and students.
- Managing financial resources to ensure fiscal responsibility
- Enhance student experience.
- Human resource management, including recruiting and hiring faculty.
- Teaching courses within the program as well as curriculum development.
- Act on behalf of the Program Head as required.
What you bring to the role:
Education
- An earned Master's degree, a Doctoral degree would be preferred related to the specific program discipline (Business).
- Industry or professional work experience in a field specifically related to the program discipline (Business).
Experience & Skills
- Five years of substantive postsecondary teaching experience, along with demonstrated administrative capability.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- In this role the incumbent must both initiate ideas and review proposals. This requires a clear understanding of the discipline as well as external issues such as student demographics, budget implications and alignment with strategic vision of the University.
