Your Opportunity:

Due North is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Coordinator. The successful applicant would be working from our Brampton location.

The primary objective of the Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the company health and safety policies ad programs, while ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites, facilities and regulatory compliance.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:


Policies and Programs

  • Assist with all Health and Safety audits.
  • Assist with the coordination, the development, implementation and monitoring of the Health and Safety programs and comply with board policies, legislation, regulations and due diligence requirements.
  • Conduct and assist with fire drills for each site and follow up on monthly inspections for all locations.
  • Assist with and/or conduct incident and accident/injury and process the required reporting.

Training

  • Assist with all health and safety training to ensure system wide compliance with legislation and regulations including the maintenance of appropriate training records.
  • Assist and track all required safety training and orientations for staff as determined by the organization and legislation in the database.
  • Assist with the health safety orientations for new employees and ensure all documents are completed and signed.

WSIB and Return to Work program

  • Monitor ReturntoWork claims.

JHSC and Inspections

  • Support the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) by assisting in agenda preparation, recording meeting minutes, and distributing them.
  • Assist in addressing health and safety concerns by participating in inspections, investigations, audits, tests, and risk assessments, and providing suggestions for corrective actions to minimize or eliminate hazards.
  • Promote health and safety awareness via organizing presentations, activities, and employee event.
  • Responsible for the guidance and correspondence regarding infection control daily procedures and outbreaks.

You Have:


  • College diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Human Resources or related discipline.
  • Level II Occupational Health & Safety Committee Certification.
  • 5+ years' experience in implementing health, safety and wellness initiatives in a manufacturing organization.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
  • Team oriented with proven capability to foster the desired organizational culture and outcomes through a consultative, collaborative approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills combined with a customer service orientation.
  • Welldeveloped written and oral communication skills with the ability to listen intently and inquire into situations.
  • Proven analytical and decisionmaking skills to examine specialized and broad problems and develop solutions and/or to address confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to conduct research into legislative or policy changes and to present ideas in a professional manner while adapting messaging to diverse employee groups.
  • Advanced computer proficiency including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Highly selfmotivated and directed as position requires initiative and independent thinking to respond to variables.
  • Keen attention to detail for a role where quality assurance is important.
  • Integrity and discretion necessary to safeguard confidential information
  • Valid G Class Driver's License. Reliable vehicle as travel between two locations is required.
