The Crump Group Inc., a large & rapidly growing pet food manufacturer based in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Material Handler.


As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials within our manufacturing facility.

You will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records.

Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety will contribute to our overall success in delivering exceptional pet treats to our customers.


Job description:

You will be primarily responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming materials, verifying quantities and inspecting for quality and accuracy.
  • Unload, unpack, and organize materials in designated storage areas, ensuring proper identification and labeling.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records by performing regular counts and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Prepare materials for production by retrieving and delivering items to appropriate workstations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate timely requests for replenishment to avoid shortages or excesses.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure materials are available as needed and in the correct quantities.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to transport materials within the facility.
  • Follow established procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of materials, adhering to safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist in the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse and storage areas to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Report any issues or concerns related to material quality, availability, or safety to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing department to resolve any discrepancies between received materials and purchase orders.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, providing suggestions to optimize material handling processes and reduce waste.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in warehouse operations is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Material Handler or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to work in different shifts and adapt to changing production demands.
  • Experience with a warehouse management system is an asset
  • Experience with scanning technology to maintain location control is an asset

Technical Skills:


  • Valid forklift operator's license Narrow Aisle Reach, Counterbalance, Electric Walkie, Ride on Walkie and demonstrated proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Proficient computer skills for maintaining accurate inventory records and utilizing inventory management systems.

Competencies:


  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing inventoryrelated tasks.
  • Excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and guidelines pertaining to material handling.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and communicate any issues or concerns.
