What you will do:


Under the supervision of the Manager IDI, the Grant writing and Communications Specialist will play a key role in supporting the business development of IDI by responding to call for proposals and coordinating submissions to donors; supporting business development operations and processes; and developing reports and strategic communications to further the work of IDI.

The role will involve communication with the multiple stakeholders at Humber and internationally.

The responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate proposal development processes by clarifying opportunities and needs, studying RFPs, gathering and formatting information, writing and revising drafts, and obtaining relevant approvals from staff in advance of deadlines
  • Support IDI's business development strategies including design and implementation of necessary systems, prospecting for new grant opportunities and strategic partnership building.
  • Supports IDI strategic communications by creating position papers, concept notes and strategic content for dissemination
  • Support information management and knowledge management practices within IDI

What you bring to the role:

Education

  • Specialized undergraduate degree in International Development, or a related field
  • Training in the writing and communication

Experience & Skills
years of experience

  • Experience in global development and the international development sector to understanding the context of IDI's work, the nuances and dynamics within and between countries.
  • Experience in grant writing (different from journalism and social media writing) also specifically grant writing for funders that include the Government of Canada.
  • Experience in strategic writing for business development such as memo, briefs, concept notes.
