Position Purpose
Assists the Park Operations Supervisor and existing Lead Hands with the scheduling of work, coordination of activities, record keeping, and providing job-site work instructions to staff in order to maintain the quality of operations and appearance of the parks, sports fields, beaches and other municipal facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years related experience in a municipal park operations environment;
- Previous experience operating various parks related equipment (i.e. turf maintenance equipment, woodchippers, tractor, loader, dumptruck);
- Possess a Valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence and clear Driver's Abstract;
- Criminal Record Check deemed satisfactory by the Town;

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists the Park Operations Supervisor and existing Lead Hands with the scheduling of work, coordination of activities, record keeping, and providing job-site work instructions to staff in order to maintain the quality of operations and appearance of the parks, sports fields, beaches and other municipal facilities.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

WORKING PROCEDURES:
Work Planning, Scheduling and Monitoring
- Assigns, oversees and provides jobsite work instructions for the activities of seasonal staff performing routine operations and maintenance tasks ensuring all tasks are performed to established service level standards/expectations;
- Monitors "Hours of Service" for all Staff operating equipment in accordance with the Ontario Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) requirements;
- Identifies necessary work at job sites, and prioritizes work using criticality methods;
Health & Safety, Policies and Procedures
- Ensures staff comply with the _Occupational Health and Safety Act_ and other applicable legislation;
- Ensures staff adhere the Town's Health and Safety Program, procedures and best practices on jobsites;
Park Operations and Maintenance
- Maintains Town Parks, openspaces and outdoor facilities including public beaches and waterfront areas by undertaking tasks such as: grass cutting/trimming, seeding/sodding, horticultural planting, and cutting and/or removal of dead brush, garbage removal and litter pickup;
- Grooms and cleans beach areas including beach volleyball court, by raking and removing debris and algae as necessary, and assists with any swim/water program set up and posting of necessary marine regulation buoys and signs etc;
- Maintains public beaches by dragging/raking debris and removes algae from foreshore of beaches when necessary;
- Opening and closing of park gates and washrooms;
- Assists with parks maintenance, including grass mowing, picking up of litter, checking garbage and replacing bags;
- Monitoring park grounds/beach area and reporting any damage to the Supervisor;

SKILL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum two (2) years related experience in a municipal park operations environment;

- Working knowledge of all applicable health and safety regulations and legislation;
- Good communication and public relations skill
