THE OPPORTUNITY


As part of BCI's Human Resources department, the Advisor, Business Partnership performs a wide range of operational HR functions within a fast-paced and growing organization.

In collaboration with the HR Business Partner and HR Technician, the Advisor provides HR support and advice to employees and managers and works closely with assigned client groups to meet business needs and objectives.

WHAT YOU BRING- 3-5 years of HR experience and a relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent- Proficiency and confidence when dealing with a diverse range of professionals in a proactive and confidential manner; supported by effective communication skills- Ability to multi-task and seamlessly change priorities when required- Service-minded attitude and sensitivity to differing cultures with an ability to effectively build trusted working relationships and provide advice to management and employees (e.g., employee relations) Working level understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices

Helpful, although not required- Certified HR-related designation- General understanding of the investment industry


WHO YOU WORK WITH


The Business Partnership HR Center of Excellence is comprised of a team responsible for the delivery, in collaboration with the extended HR team, of BCI's people strategies and programs to all internal stakeholders.

The team acts as the primary contact between HR and BCI's employees.


The Centers of Excellence (COEs) this role can draw upon include, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards (compensation, benefits, payroll), Talent Management, Equity, Diversity & Employee Experience and People Analytics and Workforce Planning.


WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO

Relationship and HR Expertise:

  • Working closely with the HR Business Partner and the HR Technician, ensures daytoday staffing matters (new employee onboarding, role changes, internal moves, departures) are executed in line with HR directives, policies, best practices, and the business objectives
  • Supervises an HR Technician, provides guidance and coaching to encourage their unique contributions
  • Provides HR support and advice to employees and managers on employee progression, work arrangements, hiring, benefits and leave, training opportunities, HR policies and directives, referring to the appropriate COE when necessary
  • Builds strong relationships with managers and employees, acting as a trusted advisor and providing proactive support and guidance
  • Champions a culture of respect and fosters a diverse and inclusive workforce at all levels of the organization
  • Provides support and advice to employees and managers on the annual performance review cycle, including objective setting, employee and manager evaluations, performance ratings, talent reviews, and promotions
  • Supports the HR Business Partner on organizational changes and reorganizations, reinforcing key messages to support employees and managers
  • Serves as a link between managers, leadership, and employees; handles questions, provides coaching to managers, and provides expert support to resolve employee relations issues
  • Provides guidance and advice to managers on job descriptions, conducts role analysis and classification evaluations for new and changed roles
  • Investigates and resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes departure trends and makes recommendations to the HR Business Partner and/or appropriate COE
  • Acts for other Advisors on the team in their absence; may also provide occasional backup for the HR Business Partner and HR Technician

Collaboration within HR:

  • In collaboration with COEs, supports the delivery HR projects and initiatives in support of the business such as employee engagement, EDI initiatives, training, and development, etc.
  • Identifies trends within assigned client groups and collaborates with HR Business Partner and COEs to make recommendations that support the business area
  • May support projects related to HR policies and ad hoc initiatives

WHERE YOU WILL WORK


Work hybrid from our downtown Victoria office, with a typical schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 working from home.

Relocation support is available if a move to Victoria is required
