General Laborer

Responsibilities:


  • Maintaining all tools and equipment to the required standard
  • Able to read and understand conduit plans
  • Able to splice/connect micro duct and all different sizes of conduit
  • Participating in job observations, near miss and hazard ID reporting, site inspections, monthly safety meetings, and daily prejob meetings
  • Identifying and mitigating safety hazards
  • Delivery of material to units in the field if necessary
  • Keep job site safe and secure
  • Follow instructions from lead hand and foreman/supervisor
  • Shovel, rake, tamp material when filling holes
  • Operate specialized equipment such as core drill, pneumatic jumping jack, plate tamper
  • Cut and repair asphalt

Qualifications

  • A G driver's license is the minimum requirement needed
  • Must have and maintain a clean driver's abstract
  • Must possess and exhibit strong safety acumen and demonstrate safe work practices
  • Previous experience on a construction site is an asset
  • Previous experience in telecommunications is an asset
  • Mechanical inclination an asset
  • Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to operate a mini excavator/skid steer preferred

Essential Physical Functions

  • Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty
  • Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in all outdoor elements (rain, snow, heat) for extended periods of time
  • Confined Space Entry may be required to accomplish tasks for some clients when applicable
  • Be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Must be capable of working extended hours and variable shifts
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Salary:
$18.00-$28.00 per hour
