Position Summary:
The part-time assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the Kitchen Manager at mealtimes and clean-up.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The part-time assistant is responsible for serving dinner meals and clean-up for four hours at dinner from (5:00 pm to 9:00 pm) as scheduled;

Dinner duties include serving dinner to residents and cleaning up afterwards. Cleaning includes clearing tables, washing dishes (with dishwasher), washing pots/pans and any other items that have been used for cooking or serving, putting away dishes, sweeping and mopping the kitchen and dining room floors, emptying and cleaning compost bins, and emptying garbage under the sink and in the dining room.
Other duties:

The part-time assistant is expected to answer and respond to telephone calls when on duty. Any calls that require follow up must be relayed to the House Manager or appropriate Board member as soon as possible;

Kitchen and dining room laundry to be done as needed;

Ensures blue and black bins in the kitchen and dining room are emptied each night;

Ensure blue and black boxes on the second floor are checked and emptied as required;

Incontinence products must be put out in the shed each night;

If on duty on a Wednesday evening, make sure Yellow Bags, green bins and recycling bins are put out at curb for collection (See City Schedule);

Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
-
Previous or relevant experience
-
Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations:
Food Handlers Certification or willingness to acquire:
Emergency First Aid Certification or willingness to acquire

Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with seniors in a caring and tactful manner

Ability to take direction and to function in an organization operated by volunteers
Total time commitment:
- 16 hours per week, as per schedule
