    Description

    The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) aims to safeguard public health and the environment by ensuring clean drinking water, wastewater treatment, and minimizing pollution. It stands as the largest municipal water and wastewater utility nationwide with a workforce of nearly 6,000 employees.
    DEP provides a daily supply of 1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water alongside treating 8.3 billion gallons of wastewater.

    The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment oversees various facilities related to sewage treatment, including treatment plants, collection facilities, wastewater laboratories, harbor vessels, and sludge dewatering facilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct data analysis on water quality parameters and plant performance
    • Provide consultation on treatment plant issues and operating techniques
    • Engage in civil engineering research and investigations
    • Operate a motor vehicle for assigned duties as needed

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Civil Engineering Knowledge
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

    The position is open to qualified individuals with disabilities eligible for the 55-a Program. Additionally, employees may qualify for federal loan forgiveness and state repayment assistance programs.
