    Description

    The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is at the forefront of ensuring public health and the environment by providing clean drinking water, managing wastewater, and combating pollution. Join a team of almost 6,000 dedicated employees delivering 1.1 billion gallons of clean water daily to over 8.5 million NYC residents and over 1 million people in Upstate New York. On the wastewater side, we process an average of 1.3 billion gallons daily.

    The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment is responsible for overseeing sewage treatment facilities, including treatment plants, collection facilities, and more. We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Associate to join our team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with wastewater treatment plants' discharge permits
    • Compile and distribute treatment reports
    • Analyze water quality data and plant performance
    • Assist with field sampling and research activities
    • Provide expertise on treatment plant operations and laboratory data
    • Drive a motor vehicle for job-related tasks

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college

    Preferred Skills:

    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities
    • Organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of Civil Engineering
