The Technology Strategy team within TELUS is dedicated to use the best technology innovations focusing on reliability to support our OptikTV Platform.

You will be a key team member of the Optik TV Content Support and Implementation Team and collaborate with other Hardware and Software Developers as well as Operations Teams to ensure projects are developed and supported in a timely, efficient manner.

We believe in innovative approaches and we take charge and craft new solutions using all IPTV technologies.

As a Design Specialist II on the OptikTV Content Support and Implementation team you will work with other hardware and software developers to identify opportunities to enhance or replace video collection and distribution solutions.

The position is broad in scope and positions you as a key contributor, working with development and operation teams to identify ways to integrate and automate your solutions; taking into consideration, operations & maintenance, roadmap of vendor releases, architectural impacts, while at the same time obtaining business and engineering alignment.

Here's how

Lead the way in identifying opportunities where improvements can be made related to technologies used to collect and distribute video related content and services with automation and analytics as key outcomes
Review and deliver solutions based on TELUS standardization and planning teams to ensure all solutions are implemented correctly and have an operational model surrounding it
Support the continued development of our network level monitoring methodology and standardize on the applicable solutions required to provide seamless visibility for multiple services from point of collection to the customer
Assist your team in developing proactive measures, processes, practices, and changes to support customer services and to resolve network/content delivery related issues
Identifies & Recommends: You are interested in identifying solutions for problems that others just work around, are capable of working with other team members and vendors to determine the best integrated solution available. You are excited about new technologies, keep abreast of developments in the industry, and recommend adoption of new tools and processes to benefit the ongoing evolution of our solutions
Mentor & Trains: Ability to mentor or train others on technical or industryrelated issues and provide effective knowledge transfer on all work performed to select employees

Qualifications:

You're the missing piece of the puzzle

Excellent comprehension of Internet Protocols (IPs): IPV4 and IPV6 including but not limited to Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/IP, Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Multicast, Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols, Internet routing, and firewalls
Experience reviewing business need, comparing solutions, analyzing data and recommending system/solution to enhance business and operational outcomes
Ability to produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation
Ability to architect and design projects tools and process' with automation in mind
Familiarity of scripting languages and tools
Ability to prioritize and communicate to multiple stakeholders
Experience with creating, managing and fulfillment of comprehensive test plans
Confidence in exercising judgment required to effectively make and own technically strategic decisions
Bachelor of Computer Science, Engineering degree, or Technology graduate and/or equivalent combination of experience and education
