About the Position:

The
Edmonton Convention Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, positive, and self driven
Sales Specialist to join our team.

You will be working with an amazing team of like-minded professionals all striving towards the same common goal to provide remarkable client experiences.

Reporting to the Director, Sales & Events, the Sales Specialist is an integral part of the Sales team and responsible for exceptional client management from the point of sale to the conclusion of the event

  • Serving as ECC representative to prospective clients who require meeting, or event space within a short booking horizon (90 days or less)
  • Entry of client hosting requirements into database for operational execution for events booked within a short booking horizon
  • Qualifying all sales inquiries from all business sectors with particular focus on small to medium size Weddings and Social gatherings.
  • Conducting site visits, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts and servicing accounts.
  • Familiarity with menu selections and recommend room options that are best suited for event.
  • Rebooking and contracting Annual Event clients
  • Providing Director of Sales and Events with administrative support which includes strategic and tactical plans.
  • Providing statistical information and sales data on areas of market responsibility and assists with trend analysis
  • Understanding and complying with departmental SOPs and takes part in departmental meetings contributing to process improvement.
  • Planning for FAMS and site visits
  • Professionally represent the department and venue by participating in and/or conducting test meals, site visits and onsite client events.
  • Effectively addressing client satisfaction or concerns with the Director, Sales & Events and respond to client in a timely fashion.
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned by Director of Sales and Events
  • Reviewing all incoming event contracts for completeness and corresponding signatures on a weekly basis with particular attention on Live Events and Concerts.
  • Assisting Sales & EM Team with contracts/proposals when requested
  • Assisting Administrative team with reception coverage during lunch and weekly for team meetings as required.
  • Producing monthly sales reports to include record of bookings and status.
  • Financial Reporting: Profit and Loss (monthly)
  • Quarterly Reporting (Every 3 Months)
  • Visitor Economy (BE) Monthly Reporting
  • Promoting the services of the Edmonton Convention Centre to contribute to Edmonton's image and reputation goals.
  • Ensuring Edmonton Convention Centre service, safety, sustainability, productivity, and community support brand standards are maintained to the highest quality.
  • Responsible for the integrity of ECC's premier food and beverage brand
  • Postsecondary education in Hospitality, Tourism, or Business is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role in a hospitality position in event planning, sales, or client services position. Food and beverage service knowledge considered an asset.
  • Minimal supervision: organizational goals and strategic direction provided by the Director of Sales and Events
  • Event/client management strengths and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience and success in developing/building relationships with clientele and internal departments
