The Opportunity

Are you passionate about Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT Service Management (ITSM)? Do you want to make a real impact? This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong service management attitude, with commitment to quality standards and continuous improvement.

We in IT Client Services at Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for process excellence and improvement, to assist with our ITSM capabilities in line with the ITIL framework and leading best practice.

Ivanti Service Manager is the AER's ITSM tool and is well-established at the AER. Up until last year, it housed the ticketing and request fulfillment modules supporting both IT and the business. This year we have been busy introducing new capabilities.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the adoption and continuous improvement of IT Service Management framework, and best practices, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Assist with various projects in requirements gathering, testing, implementation, or postimplementation stages.
  • Provide input and review of project deliverables, for example, quick reference guides, knowledge articles and support model documents.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IT Service Management and ITIL practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured, methodical approach, good writing and communication skills, good understanding of the project lifecycle.
  • Practical experience in service management or frontline service provisioning will be an asset.

Additional Requirements/Information:

  • This is a 12month, Limited Term role.
AER Hybrid Work Model Trial

We understand the way we do our work has changed and our employees are looking for flexibility with a blend of in-office and remote work.

Following the work from home orders being lifted, the AER will be trialing a hybrid work model to live, learn and adapt our flexible work arrangements in a way that works for our business and our employees.

What does our hybrid work trial model look like?

  • Combination of inoffice and remote work based on your preference and business needs
  • Flexible work hours, while committing to being available during our core hours of 9:00am 3:00pm
If you choose to participate in the hybrid model, you will:

  • Be provided with an AER computer or laptop when working in the office.
  • Need to have access to a personal computer when working from home (unless assigned an AER laptop dependant on business need).
  • Have a highspeed internet connection with a minimum of 50 Mbps for downloads and 30 Mbps for uploads when working remotely.

Should the successful employee be a permanent employee, they would retain their permanent status for the term of the contract and potentially be eligible for Acting Pay as per the AER's Compensation Policy. At the end of the assignment, the employee would either return to their current role or be reassigned to an equivalent role within the organization.
