Our client operates one of the largest indoor rock climbing gyms in Canada.

Known for their diverse climbing routes and state-of-the-art facilities, they are committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic climbing community.

They are currently seeking a Head Setter to manage their route setting program, bring creativity and technical expertise to their climbing walls, and ensure a challenging and enjoyable experience for climbers of all levels.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead the route setting team to create engaging, diverse, and safe climbing routes throughout the facility.
  • Develop and implement the route setting schedule, ensuring a constant rotation of fresh routes for climbers.
  • Maintain the highest safety standards in all aspects of route setting and wall maintenance.
  • Train and mentor route setting staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the gym management to align the route setting program with the gym's broader goals.
  • Handle all equipment and hardware related to route setting, including inventory management, maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to create unique and competitionworthy routes for local and national events held at the gym.
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, and inclusive environment within the route setting team and wider gym community.
  • Engage with gym members to gather feedback and continuously improve the route setting program.
  • Keep uptodate with the latest trends, techniques, and safety protocols in route setting.

Qualifications:


  • Significant experience in route setting, ideally in a leadership role.
  • Excellent understanding of climbing techniques, route complexity, and safety standards.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and creativity, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment, with a commitment to safety and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for community engagement.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • A deep love and understanding of the sport of rock climbing.
