Position description

The McGill University Health Centre includes major McGill University-affiliated teaching hospitals at several sites in downtown Montreal.

Neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroradiologists, and interventional neuroradiologists provide tertiary in-patient and out-patient care, engage in a wide range of clinical and basic neuroscience research, and lead strong clinical neuroscience teaching programs in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine.


The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery is part of McGill, Canada's most international university, which is located in vibrant, multicultural Montreal, in the francophone province of Quebec.

The neuroscience community at McGill and in greater Montreal is one of the largest and most diverse in North America.

Job Duties


The successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill's academic mission (teaching, research, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

They will provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to diverse residents and medical students, and are expected to pursue scholarly activities in advancing clinical care or clinical research in neurotrauma.


McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.

A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Applicants must hold or be eligible for licensure as a neurosurgeon in the province of Quebec;
  • Applicants must have advanced training and the demonstrated capacity to excel in academic neurosurgery, including specialized clinical expertise in neurotrauma, strong medical education skills, and a welldefined research program;
  • Clinician-Scientists with MD-PhD or equivalent researchintensive training are strongly encouraged to apply;
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas;
