In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $63,257 - $105,433.

Position summary


Working under the guidance of the Associate Dean Research, Graduate Programs (ADR Grad), and in collaboration with the Team Lead, FoMD Research Training Programs (Team Lead), the Research Training Programs Officer supervises the day-to-day activities of the research training programs at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FoMD).

This position manages all committees and working groups associated with the FoMD research training programs. This includes researching and collating information to provide guidance to committees, drafting documentation, and other managerial activities.

The Research Training Programs Officer is the key position for actioning and implementing program changes in the FoMD as recommended by the ADR Grad and the various oversight committees.


Duties

Area 1:
Research Training Programs

  • Provides oversight, in varied capacities, to the following FoMD research training programs: Summer student research program; Graduate Programs; Postdoctoral Fellows TAC; Medical Sciences Graduate Program (MSGP); MD/PhD program; MD/MSc (upcoming program); and MD/STIR. Provide support for the CIP program and new initiatives as required.
  • Manages all committees and working groups associated with FoMD graduate programs. This includes the Graduate Programs Committee (GPC); the Harmonization of FoMD Graduate Programs Working Group; FoMD Graduate Program Consolidation Committee; the FoMD Scholarship Policy Review Working Group; the PDF Trainee Advisory Committee; and other adhoc committees as they evolve. Responsibilities include researching and collating information to provide guidance to committees, drafting documentation, and other managerial activities.
  • Provides executive functions of implementing FoMD graduate training program changes arising out of the recommendations made by the above committees and the ADR Grad. This includes actioning the items identified by the above committees and overseeing calendar changes, shepherding changes through governance, etc.

Area 2:
Faculty awards and graduate programs

  • Provide oversight of all FoMD administered awards and nomination processes.
  • Establish adhoc faculty nomination processes for FGSR administered award competitions.
  • Advise the Graduate Program Advisor on student and research training program queries and issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree required.
  • 35 years progressively responsible administrative and program management experience in a higher education or related environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of university, FGSR, and FoMD policies and procedures is required.
