Role Overview:


Our Vancouver office is currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant in our Advocacy Department with an emphasis on Intellectual Property, Trademarks and IP Litigation providing a variety of routine legal and administrative duties to lawyers within the group including preparation of legal documents and correspondence.


Proposal Support

  • Receive incoming RFPs/RFQs/RFIs, and determine scope of information needed and the appropriate response format, including whether response is warranted.
  • Provide additional support with the RFP Specialist on managing external bid vendors, monitoring possible bids, managing electronic submissions and purchase of initial RFP.
  • Work with key stakeholders and the business development team to discuss strategy including goals, obstacles, advantages, and how best to communicate the firm's strengths.
  • Draft the initial response using precedent language or original content that is specifically aligned to the opportunity presented.
  • Manage design and layout of the proposal, incorporating input from internal stakeholders and seek final approval.
  • With assistance from our graphic designers, oversee the preparation of visual presentations (integration of copy and design) including conveying data through graphic elements (charts, graphs, maps, tables, and text), when required.
  • Assist in development of appropriate pricing schemes in coordination with business development leaders, as required.

Content Management & Other Writing

  • Provide support and input on other writing and editing assignments critical to business development
  • Law degree (JD or LLB) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with proposal responses within the legal industry.
  • Strong understanding of broader business concepts, market trends and terminology, and research on industries and organizations.
  • Superior writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Well organized with excellent time management skills; ability to juggle multiple competing proposals simultaneously.
  • Collaborative: a selfstarter but able to work with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the teams involved; flexibility and creativity to respond strategically to each lawyers' individual needs.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and detailoriented skills; critical thinker with an understanding of what to look for in RFPs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
