Description

Sheridan is looking for an outstanding individual to join our faculty to teach Painting in the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design.

Both of drawing courses advertised are in the Art and Art History Program, a joint program between Sheridan and the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Sheridan seeks a part-time professor to teach a one-semester section of Painting 1 FAS145H on Tuesdays from 6-9 PM and on Thursdays from 6-9 PM (six hours each week) over the thirteen-week fall session, September 7, 2023, through to December 5, 2023.

In Painting 1, students explore the use of painting to investigate contemporary approaches to the production of artwork.

Students work with a variety of traditional and experimental painting materials and techniques to develop their understanding of and facility with current painting practices.

Students examine the systems and conventions of painting through discussions, workshops, critiques, and assignments.

Students are introduced to a variety of critical and thematic concerns of artists working within these fields, discourses surrounding their production, and the larger cultural implications of their work.

Professors ensure that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes, learning strategies and evaluation techniques; provide individual tutoring and academic counselling; and evaluate student progress/achievement within assigned courses.
