The Financial Analyst is responsible for primarily supporting the budgeting, reporting, payroll processing functions and additionally supporting general accounting and audit functions as needed.

This position requires flexibility in hours of work to support accessible program service delivery and the hours of operation at multiple sites. As such the position entails some evening and weekend work._


What you will do:


  • Support the Manager of Finance and the Finance Team in preparation of audit work papers and schedules.
  • Assist Finance Team with data entry as needed.
  • Prepare account reconciliations including bank reconciliation, prepayment, accruals deferred revenue and capital contribution schedules.
  • Work as a backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and any other ad
- hoc duties as assigned to you.

  • Financial planning, budget preparation, variance analysis and funder reports.
  • Be part of closing the month end, preparing journal entries, month end reporting as well as yearend closing.
  • Identify, improve, and standardize processes within Finance where possible.
  • Administration and processing of semimonthly payroll across multiple employee groups for salaried and hourly employees with varying degrees of complexity, premiums, and policies
  • Employee payroll administration i.e., enrollment, terminations, employment status changes, setting up payroll elements, and processing ROE's.
  • Secondary review of employee timecards and administration of ADP period closing and new cycle opening.
  • Semimonthly payroll changes reconciliation
  • Monthly payroll reconciliation with accounting system
  • Process and submit employment and government forms & reports as required (i.e., Stats Canada reports, ROE's, EHT, WSIB claim information)
  • Preparation of working documents for annual finance audit and working with the auditors.
  • Comply with provincial legislation including the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and WellFort policies as they relate to payroll administration.
  • Understands and communicates ADP Workforce capabilities when new policies are developed.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and decision support to CEO, Manager of Finance, and other members of Leadership.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What you will need:


  • Business / Finance degree with preference given to those pursuing CPA.
  • Advanced skills and experience with MS Office Excel and well versed with other MS
  • Office modules, I.e., Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Great Plains and Payroll Systems an asset
  • Excellent ability to set, respond and adjust changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including experience with report writing for senior leadership, and ability to interact with all levels of the organizations.
  • Excellent technical learning, analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to be discreet with confidential and time sensitive documents and materials.
  • Experience working in a value based nonprofit or social services organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Hiring Salary Range**:
$58,211 - $67,514 (consideration of experience)
