As a
Health and Safety Advisor you will join one of our
Ontario office's (Guelph or Mississauga) as part of our Health & Safety team.

The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of health and safety services to support Matrix teams and projects with responsibilities as follows:


  • Provide H&S support for Matrix project teams and committees based in Guelph, Kitchener, London and Mississauga.
  • Influence strong safety practices and culture to generate engagement, and commitment from all employees.
  • Partner with the business, advise and coach leaders and employees to successfully conduct hazard assessment, emergency response planning and inspections.
  • Conduct office ergonomic assessments and suggest mitigations when necessary
  • Conduct infield health and safety inspections.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify corrective actions that will address root causes and prevent future incidents.
  • Facilitate interactive H&S training and orientation sessions.
  • Serve as an internal Certificate of Recognition H&S auditor and coordinate activities for external audits.
  • Identify trends and issues for the teams and activities you support and engage leaders to proactively develop solutions.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum 5 years of experience in a health and safety role including field experience.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/relevant degree required.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation preferred.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Technician or National Construction Safety Officer designation will be considered.
  • H&S auditing experience is an asset.
  • Industrial hygiene experience is considered an asset.
  • Directly related experience in an environmental consulting organization would be ideal.
  • Experience building collaborative partnerships and effective working relationships with all levels of employees.
  • Approximately 20% travel is expected. Most travel will be within Ontario. There may be occasional travel (e.g., a couple times per year) out of province.
