- Planning and managing software development initiatives: aligning work to strategy, setting goals, creating timelines, and assigning tasks to internal and external development teams
- Hiring, onboarding, and leading software development talent; ensuring the teams have the right skills for development and quality assurance now and in the future
- Maintaining scope, costs, schedules, and quality for development efforts; maintaining communication between dev teams and stakeholders.
- Overseeing software development, quality assurance and Dev/Ops teams.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, software development or a related field.
- 10 years+ relevant business experience in leading and scaling software development teams and providing strong leadership and coaching abilities to support and motivate internal and external development teams.
- Agile Leadership and product management / Project Management Certification.
- Full stack development knowledge (.NET / .NET core framework, WPF or UWP, C#, HTML, JavaScript) to lead new feature and product development.

Position overview
The Manager, Software Development is someone who has a passion for leading a team of software development professionals to develop and continually improve our airport's first-to-market technology solutions such as our border control and digital twin platforms. Reporting to the Director, Software Development, the Manager, Software Development will engage with our community to source opportunities for collaboration through our Innovation Hub and seek to create pathways of employment in this exciting industry.

This role will require presence on site at the airport and the successful candidate must be able to occasionally work irregular hours as the role or season dictates.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
As part of our recruitment process, short-listed candidates may be required to participate in an assessment process.
Salary Range: $117,040 to $168,245 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 15% of your annual salary.
