    The House of Commons Administration delivers outstanding services to Members of Parliament and their employees in support of parliamentary democracy.

    The House of Commons Parliamentary Precinct Operations is currently looking to staff the Picture Framer/Workstation Services/On-Site Carpentry position.
    This recruitment and selection process is restricted to employees of the House of Commons Administration.

    CURATORIAL FRAMING

    The person is responsible for the production of framing and curatorial services to Members of Parliament, House of Commons executives, the Curator and the Library of Parliament.

    This person assesses the condition and artistic, sentimental and/or historic value of the work, painting, photograph, certificate, medals, newspaper article or other item; recommends the appropriate preservation method and technique for long-term protection; recommends the appropriate materials based on display site, and gives advice on harmonization of materials.


    WORKSTATION SERVICES

    The person provides modular unit installation and reconfiguration service to Members of Parliament, and House of Commons and Library of Parliament executives.

    Based on the Team Leader's plans and advice, the person installs and reconfigures modular units to accommodate the varying needs of a broad range of clients, taking ergonomic enhancement and occupational safety into account.


    CARPENTRY

    The person provides complete on-site maintenance and repair of office furniture: installs and assembles office furniture and accessories; hangs items and mounts framed items (one to 50 units); and maintains and repairs furnishings that make up the inventory of the House in the offices of Members and House of Commons and Library of Parliament executives.

    This position requires extensive physical efforts and therefore, the candidates must successfully pass a pre-placement medical / physical fitness assessment.
