Role Overview

The Health Policy Analyst provides a wide variety of support activities to the Policy Lead and the larger Policy & Advocacy team.

This role supports health policy advocacy that further solidifies the visibility and credibility of Diabetes Canada with governments, regulators, stakeholders, and the media as the go-to source for evidence-based information to enable meaningful change for people impacted by diabetes.


Location:
This role can be fully remote anywhere in Canada. Possibility for hybrid arrangement if based in Ottawa or Toronto. Occasional travel (5%) to attend conferences and in-person meetings.


Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Research and interpret a range of information about healthcare policy and broader trends for people impacted by diabetes.
  • Respond to data and information requests to satisfy both internal and external inquiries.
  • Create and maintain a system to track and report data on Diabetes Canada data requests.
  • Generate evidence to help inform Diabetes Canada submissions, recommendations, and educational and advocacy materials.
  • Provide policy support to other members of the Policy & Advocacy team, the broader Mission team, and Diabetes
  • Canada conferences, including attending meetings (mostly virtual) with elected officials and decision makers as required.
  • Participate in internal and external working groups and committees related to various health and nutrition policy issues relevant to people impacted by diabetes.
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in health policy and planning, health economics, political science, public administration, data management, or related field.
  • 23 years of health policy, data management, or related experience.
  • Expertise in managing and manipulating large data sets to identify and report important results.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel and other data software.
  • Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Research skills and managing multiple priorities from different stakeholders.
  • Working capacity in French is an asset, though not a requirement.
