Job Summary


The Associate Director, Communications, plays an important leadership role at HOOPP, providing highly effective and strategic communication planning and delivery for a range of key internal partners.

They drive internal communication activities to reinforce our high-performance culture and positive work environment, help keep employees engaged and informed, and also strengthen HOOPP's reputation as an employer of choice.


Leading a team of communications professionals, this individual oversees the development and execution of employee communication initiatives and vehicles, while ensuring alignment with HOOPP's Strategic Plan and upholding our core values.

The role demands a creative, collaborative and proactive approach, combined with strong people leadership and relationship management skills, exceptional planning and organizational skills, sound judgment and a demonstrated commitment to detail.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for the development of:
  • Internal (and occasionally external) communications supporting the Human Resources division and their corporate initiatives focused on enhancing organizational culture, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as establishing HOOPP as an employer of choice.
  • Internal communications for a variety of other internal partners that help them achieve their divisional objectives, while informing and educating employees on key organizational activities.
  • Oversee the management of positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders and provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on corporate and employee communications initiatives.
  • Provide a positive work environment and strong leadership to their highperforming team of communication professionals, while helping them deliver efficient and effective communications, and continue to learn and grow in their roles.
  • Ensure team members collect, understand and analyze business requirements and objectives to develop engaging communication strategies for short
- and long-term initiatives.

  • Stay informed on industry best practices and trends in corporate and employee communications supporting talent development, and workplace culture and diversity.
  • Influence and inform internal stakeholders' business planning activities at the earliest possible stages to ensure effective and timely integration of HOOPP brand and communications requirements.

  • Lead the effective capture, use and reporting of analytics for organization's core internal communications channels and activities, to allow for consistent improvement of the vehicles and provide datadriven recommendations to the partner group towards improving the employee experience at HOOPP.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing improvement and consistency in messaging across channels, both internal and external (as required).
  • Lead the internal Marketing and Communications (M&C) communications calendar.
  • Lead/participate in communications idea/campaign feasibility and development, including key messages and creative concepts.
  • Balance team and partner needs with fiscally responsible and scalable communication solutions.
  • Ensure internal partners are engaged, informed and accountable throughout the planning and execution of communication initiatives.
  • Manage the endtoend team planning process including Agile sprint planning by collaborating and liaising with other functions within M&C, ensuring the ask is clear and work backlog is effectively prioritized, and programs are delivered on time, on budget, and to required quality
