Reporting to the Manager, Business Applications, or designate, the Geographic Information Systems (G.I.S.) Analyst is responsible for collaborating with city wide stakeholders to evolve and maintain the geospatial data and by creating spatial and non-spatial data in ESRI ArcGIS.
Responsibilities:
- Creating, managing, maintaining, and updating core G.I.S. products and data for corporate and external use
- Researching, acquiring, creating and maintaining spatial and nonspatial datasets used for dissemination of information within the enterprise ESRI platform
- Performing analysis & geoprocessing services to produce cartographic and analytical products that support reports, maps, and presentations for internal and external clients
- Creating customized spatial layers for corporate projects or special studies
- Preparing digital data requests, maintaining base map inventories and responding to standard map requests;
- Managing and coordinating third party sources of data and ensure conformance to City requirements
- Providing technical and administrative support for G.I.S software solutions including, participation in upgrades & software patches, troubleshooting performance issues, and managing user security access
- Supporting of Oshawa Emergency Operation Center (EOC)
Requirements:
- Postsecondary degree in Geography, or related discipline, and a post graduate diploma in Geographic Information Systems or equivalent education and experience
- Successful completion of ArcGIS I & II and/or any related ESRIrelated training/certificates
- Advanced Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and SQL
- Analytical thinker, with a keen interest in data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative in order to meet deadlines, able to work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project coordination skills
