Established in 1836 in Quebec, Canada, Bishop's College
School (BCS) is an IB World School offering the International
Baccalaurate Diploma Programme and certificates. With a

The Position
Reporting to the Director of Academics, the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher is
a part-time teacher (80%) who is capable of teaching ESL classes and providing
instructional support to students needing assistance with our ESL Plus Programme; (i.e.,
enhance the development of comprehension, reading, writing, and verbal skills) within
the goal of enabling students to better access the content of mainstream classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help identify language levels and assess student needs
  • Adapt curriculum to support ESL students
  • Help students achieve literacy objectives
  • Work with individual students, small groups or classes to attain grade level

- proficiency
  • Adjust instructions to meet individual needs
  • Work in collaboration with school coordinators, teachers and parents to enhance

- the ESL programmes
  • Provide students with constructive and prompt feedback
  • Facilitate learning for students and build on student confidence
  • Interact in a positive, friendly, patient manner with students from different
cultural backgrounds and levels of language proficiency

Le poste:
Sous la supervision de la Directrice des études, l'enseignant d'anglais langue seconde est
un enseignant à temps partiel (80 %) capable d'enseigner des cours d'anglais langue
seconde et de fournir un soutien pédagogique aux étudiants ayant besoin d'aide dans le
cadre de notre programme d'Anglais langue seconde plus (c.à-d. développer des
compétences de compréhension, lecture, écriture, et communication orale) dans le but
de permettre aux étudiants d'accéder au contenu des classes générales.
