Job Number:49374**The Strategic Planning Analyst's primary function is to provide business planning, project management and analysis to the 311 & Customer Access section specifically and the Service Innovation and Performance Branch.


This position provides strategic business and resource planning, performance measurement and reporting, business case development, development and implementation of business process improvements while managing the change management process to ensure section, branch, department, and corporate business goals are achieved in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Develop, implement, test and monitor the business performance management processes used to measure business performance. Develop business performance reporting and dashboards based on established performance measures
  • Act as the business liaison/project manager with other departments and business partners for branch, department, and corporate projects and initiatives
  • Perform business analysis functions from a corporate view
  • Represent the voice of the citizens by gathering business intelligence to drive policy development
  • Be a part of projects that support business operational functions, corporate strategy, corporate business planning, performance measurement, continuous improvement and a variety of deliverables which include policies, procedures, guidelines, workflows, process maps, reports, and data visualizations, among others
  • Gather information, summarize data, analyze results, make recommendations and monitor progress
  • Lead workshops to elicit business requirements and document business processes, controls, identify, recommend and build consensus for changes, process improvement or enhancements
  • Develop long term, mid term, and short term business forecasts for the demand of 311 and Customer Access services
  • Partner with other branches/departments in the development, implementation, and monitoring of business process improvement initiatives
  • Analyze and test current state processes and workflows to determine level of efficiency and effectiveness
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:


  • University degree in Business management, business administration, or public administration
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of : business planning, business analysis, business performance management working with performance measures for both operational and budget requirements
  • Business analysis and project management training would be considered an asset

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
