Job Information and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director, Employee Experience, the Manager, Talent Acquisition & Experience will:
- Supervises full complement of fulltime staff and assigns tasks and/or delegates responsibility.
- Monitors performance and provides daytoday and periodic formal performance feedback.
- Implements strategies to attract and retain top talent and improve employee experiences and engagement.
- Develops talent management solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the departmental and University strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Provides expert advice and guidance to assigned client groups, leaders etc. on implementation of talent management solutions (e.g., sourcing, recruiting, selection, retention).
- Ensures the talent acquisition policy and procedures are in compliance with legislation, collective agreements, and /or policy requirements.
- Networks with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
- Assists managers to ensure new and current employees transferring to new positions are successfully onboarded.
- Conducts exit interviews, reviews recommendations for improvement to exit interview process. Implements change as needed.
- Builds and maintains relationships with designated groups who are underrepresented in employment at the university and ensures an increase in headcounts for members of these groups.
- In collaboration with stakeholders, develops employee recognition, engagement, retention and exit strategies, processes and policies, as necessary.
- Develops retention strategies, such as, but not limited to flexibility at work, extensive development plans, lunch and learns, Oneonone lunch, experiential rewards, or employee mentorship programs.
- Works with the Director, Employee Experience in developing, coordinating and implementing various projects.
Experience and Education Requirements
To be the successful Manager, Talent Acquisition & Experience you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and a certificate in Human Resources Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years' directly related experience which includes increasing levels of leadership, responsibility and accountability.
- Experience and demonstrated results in talent acquisition / sourcing in a similar environment with good knowledge of working in a unionized environment is required.
- Experience with an HRIS, talent search tools and webbased platforms and Microsoft office suite.
- Advanced working knowledge of relevant employment, labour and human rights legislation and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication, organizational, and solid conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to function independently and as a part of a team.
- An indepth understanding of EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) principles, relevant legislation, and potential legal liability.
- High degree of cultural proficiency with a demonstrated track record of working effectively within and across equityseeking communities
- Strong attention to details and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.
