    Intent of the process

    Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

    Currently there is a temporary vacancy to be staffed.

    A pool of qualified candidates may be created and used to staff full-time indeterminate and term positions.

    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    A degree in related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience

    Extensive experience in developing strategic and business communications plans and products
    Extensive is defined as having at least five years experience

    Experience in media relations including acting as a spokesperson, preparing news releases, planning news conferences, responding to inquiries from reporters, etc.

    Experience in providing communications advice and recommendations to clients, representatives and senior management.

    Experience in supervising staff in the development or implementation of communications strategies and products.

    Experience in managing communications programs/services including developing communications standards, procedures and guidelines.

    Willing and able to work overtime as required.

    Willing and able to be on-call.

    Willing and able to work flexible hours.

    Willing and able to travel by various modes of transportation (including commercial and light aircraft) up to and including remote locations.

    Willing and able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.

    Willing and able to write emergency/critical incident messaging in both English and French when required.

    The successful candidate will be required to provide original documentation of proof of Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident status prior to appointment. Other candidates may also be asked to provide this documentation at various stages in the selection process. The following documents will be accepted as proof: Provincial or territorial birth certificate; Naturalization certificates (issued prior to Jan. 1, ); Registration of Birth Abroad certificates (issued between Jan. 1, and Feb. 14, ); Certificates of Retention; Citizenship certificates; Permanent resident card.

    Testing/interviews will be conducted at the location of the employer's choice.

    The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, on-line activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc.

    Successful applicant is required to work in Regina, Saskatchewan. Telework or alternate work locations will not be an option.
