TAAG Accounting is looking for an experienced Manager for Accounting & Tax who can take the lead on all the finance and accounting aspects of the firm.

This position also provides the chance to progress into becoming a partner at the firm.


Reporting to the Partners and Senior Management team, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for working directly with the clients and on all aspects of the accounting and taxation processes.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Accounting and Taxation Practices:


  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial close processes.

Manage, prepare and review:

  • Timely and accurate journal entries as required.
  • Working paper files and corporate tax provisions and returns.
  • General ledger accounts activities to ensure account accuracy of financial
statements.

  • HST returns, payroll remittances and bank reconciliations.
  • Personal and Corporate Income Tax returns.
  • Regular financial reports, income statements, balance sheets and statements of
cash flows.

  • Financial forecasts and budgets.

Client Relations and Support:


  • Provide tax strategies and tax planning for clients, including formalizing tax planning tools for retirement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Engage and promote firm services.

Leadership:


  • Manage, support, and train a small team of staff accountants.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance on engagements.
  • Ensure the implementation of policies, procedures, and quality standards for the maintenance of the firm's financial accounting policies and systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of management experience.
  • Have an accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA, CPA).
  • Experience working with Small/Medium Businesses.
  • Knowledge or exposure to ASPE/IFRS would be considered an asset.
  • Good knowledge with Excel, Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Tax prep and CaseWare.
  • Capable of working under pressure and managing challenging situations.
  • Strong ability to problemsolve and use good sound judgment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to answer client questions.
  • Selfassured with promoting firm services, working on/offsite with clients.
  • Quality and detail oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative leader and team player.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
