Position Summary VCC Continuing Studies is seeking instructors with industry and teaching experience to teach in the Cybersecurity Governance, Risk, and Compliance Post-Degree Diploma. Successful candidates will be offered a term contract position, with opportunities for renewal of instructional assignments.

    For a list of courses, please check the program webpage This position is responsible for teaching students in an assigned field of study using a diverse set of instruction methods and tools. The position prepares teaching materials, designs learning activities, develops lesson plans/syllabi and provides assessments of students' progress. It ensures the proper stewardship of college facilities, equipment and other inventories, including, but not limited to, lab infrastructure. The position is also responsible for upholding the College policies and procedures, participating in meetings, events and on committees.Preference will be given to applicants with skills and industry expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Cloud security,
  • Governance, risk, and compliance (GRC),
  • Incident response and disaster recovery,
  • Cybersecurity audits,
  • IT infrastructure library framework,
  • Security program and project management,
  • Security and compliance frameworks, polices and standards.
    • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Utilize industry knowledge to teach and engage students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory workshops, simulations, case studies, and independent or group projects.
  • Develops curriculum, prepares teaching materials, including multimedia and web-related materials, where appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with students, in a group or individual setting, using both visual techniques and verbal communication.
  • Prepares, administers and marks papers, tests, exams and other assessments to monitor and evaluate students' progress. Evaluate students' progress and provide detailed feedback on student performance.
  • Arranges for and supervises independent or group projects, laboratory work or hands-on training.
  • Maintain effective stewardship of classroom facilities, equipment, materials, software and tools.
  • Adhere to VCC policies and procedures, including being available to students, and maintaining confidentiality of students and information.
  • Participate in departmental and college meetings and events, and consult with other college departments as needed.
  • Creates a positive learning environment by consistently demonstrating preparedness for class, by motivating students to accomplish educational and personal goals and by providing the opportunity to receive and act on student feedback.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
    • Qualifications
  • Minimum Diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred, in a relevant field.
  • Minimum three years of current and relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary education environment is preferred.
  • Relevant industry and ISACA certifications are an asset e.g. CISA—Certified Information Systems Auditor,CRISC—Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control, CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional, ISC2 – International Information System Security Certification Consortium.
  • Knowledge or experience with Moodle or other Learning Management System would be an asset.
  • Experience teaching in an online environment is preferred.
  • Ability to create an inclusive atmosphere while servicing a diverse student body.
  • Evidence of commitment to team and personal professional growth.
  • Prior education in adult learning or Provincial Instructor Diploma, an asset.
