Payroll & Benefits Analyst.


JOB SUMMARY:


The Payroll & Benefits Analyst is responsible for administration of employee benefits & pension, data management and employee records management.

They support and assist with ensuring efficient and accurate payroll for all salaried and hourly staff and are responsible for all payroll, benefit, and pension related reporting.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Process and manage all personnel transactions from Human Resources such as staff additions, salary changes, terminations, or other adjustments, as well as the time sheets from hourly paid staff; reviewing, followingup for clarification or discrepancies if needed
  • Maintain all Payroll Database
  • Support Payroll & Benefits Administrator with transmitting payroll data to the service provider (ADP), checking returned data and distributing pay stubs/prepare manual cheques as requested;
  • Responsible for the administration of all Benefits & Pension including enrolments, terminations, updating providers and maintaining payroll software for accuracy;
  • Support Payroll & Benefits Specialist in calculating and processing payments such as: pension, benefit, WSIB, EHT, Union Dues and retroactive and/or severance money, as well as yeartodate adjustments, statutory deductions, EI amendments, taxes or other withholdings; producing Records of Employment or other required documentation from available information;
  • Support the calculating, producing and remitting monies or information requested by government or regulatory
  • Reviewing all transactions received for completeness, accuracy of supporting documentation, adherence to internal controls, the various collective agreements and legislated standards; seeking clarification and alerting Human Resources as to anomalies
  • Act as a first point of contact for all staff with respect to payroll, pension and benefit entitlement inquiries, and ensuring that all payroll, pension and benefit matters are communicated on a timely basis to staff.
  • Liaising with external systems support for issues or problems with the payroll and benefit systems as needed
  • Support & prepare and Review T4s, Yearend payroll Balance Reports and perform Taxable Benefits Reconciliations to make sure all related accounts are balanced with reports as well as reported correctly on T4s
  • Assist with yearend Audits, prepare audit papers and Salary Analysis by programs, payroll breakdown summaries and yearly payroll reconciliation with GL
  • Set up new program codes on WFN to ensure new programs cost are recorded properly as well as to update new code on Etime for correct labor levels
  • Periodically perform reconciliations with Manulife bills to find out discrepancies regarding to new members, terminations and LOA benefits and LTD eligibilities.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies found on ADP bills, and GL accounts
  • Assist with government audits by preparing documents requested i.e. WSIB and EHT from Ontario government
  • When needed, accurately process payroll for all salaried and hourly staff

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Must Haves

  • Excellent knowledge of the payroll and benefits management, and accounts payable functions as acquired through certification with the Canadian Payroll Association or an accounting designation from a community college, coupled with 13 years of experience in payroll administration
  • Knowledge of the standard and accepted practices of payroll, policies/procedures, deadlines and internal controls of the organization.
  • Knowledge of the legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Software and payroll (ADP preferred)
  • Knowledge of mathematics & ability to work independently with little technical supervision
  • Experience in the administration of employee benefits & pension
  • Solid understanding of benefits administration & other Human Resources practices is an asset
