SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial accounting and reporting.
This includes developing and maintaining US GAAP, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate practice and polices and accurate and timely financial statements preparation by all accounting team members.
This position addresses several key areas, including, but not limited to:- SOX documentation and adherence
- Accurate preparation of monthly financial reporting
- Account reconciliations
- Profitability analysis
- Year end audit preparation
- Operational analysis
POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES:
_Accounting and Reporting Responsibilities _
- Responsible for general ledger, including trial balance and reconciliation; and monthly financial statements, including collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Support monthend and yearend close process
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Support JJE's annual budgeting process and manage the monthly forecast and profit plan updates
- Respond to inquiries from the COO, Director of Finance and other departmental Senior Managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests
- Support Director of Finance in all external audits
- Additional controller duties as necessary
_Management Responsibilities _
- Provide leadership and support to the accounting team to ensure alignment with JJE Policies and overall strategic direction
- Ensure Accounting team is knowledgeable and adheres to JJE Accounting and Financial policies
- Champion JJE values and foster a strong, positive team environment with the accounting team through regular meetings and communications
- Strong management of the daytoday corporate Accounting functions
- Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Accounting
- CPA, CA designation preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a Senior Level Accounting Management role
- Experience working in a publicly traded, multilocation company
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Financial analysis, budgeting and strategic financial planning experience
- Advanced experience working with an ERP software, CDK/PFW experience is an asset
- Advanced/Expert experience using Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with SOX compliance
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and oversee multiple projects
- Ability to interpret and provide financial information to internal and external parties with highest level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to plan and execute work independently
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with individuals within and outside of the organization
- Ability to effectively manage a team
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
