Why You?

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to focus on improving operating and maintenance efficiency throughout the various water distribution systems.

Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor Operations, Water, the Utilities Technician will be responsible for the regular operation repair and maintenance of the water distribution system including all relevant appurtenances.

The Utilities Technician will also be responsible for:

Overseeing commissioning of new water mains installations (includes swabbing, flushing, tie-ins and sampling).
Performing daily duties related to the effective operations, repair and maintenance of InnServices' water distribution system.
Conducting utility locates as required, analyzing data regarding excavation locations and construction prints and operating various electronic devices.
Developing and implementing distribution system maintenance strategies for valve exercising and hydrant maintenance and tagging.
Flushing water mains to ensure water quality; utilizing a pocket colorimeter and other testing instruments to record residual samples taken as part of flushing program.
Performing duties related to main breaks, valve repairs and hydrant repairs.
Providing excellence in customer service by responding to customer complaints and inquiries; turning on/off and meter replacements.

Job Requirements

A licensed Water Meter Installer (governed by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities).
Grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent is required at a minimum with a relevant post secondary education is preferred.
MECP's Class 3 Water Distribution Certification is required. A lowerlevel certification in the same category with reasonable experience could be considered. Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft office suite, GIS mapping, SCADA, CMMS.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience performing operational and maintenance duties in a water distribution system. Experience performing locating, marking, and mapping utility lines will be an asset.
A Class G level driver's license in good standing.
