    Description

    Detailed Overview

    • Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of the organization.
    • Reporting to the Supervisor, the Medical Office Assistant is required to act independently and as part of a team.
    • This role includes providing reception and clerical services, data entry, and team support.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides reception services, schedules appointments, and assists with patient referrals.
    • Performs clerical tasks, including typing, copying, and maintaining files.
    • Conducts data entry for patient registrations and billing information.
    • Prepares examination rooms, cleans equipment, and assists with clinic procedures.
    • Handles patient payments, maintains supplies, and participates in staff orientation.
    • Liaises with healthcare organizations and attends meetings to promote programs.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 and a certificate from a recognized Medical Office Assistant program.
    • Minimum one year of relevant experience or equivalent education/training.

    Competencies

    Demonstrates leadership qualities and creates a supportive environment for success.


    Professional/Technical Capabilities:
    Ability to type 40 wpm, knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare disciplines, and proficiency in operating related equipment.
