    Department : Engineering Reports to : Technical Developer Lead - Manufacturing Job purpose : As Technical Developer – Manufacturing, your main duty is to manage and develop multiple products through NPI (New Product Introduction) stages from prototyping, development, validation, to bulk production. Your cross-departmental communication and time management skills ensure the on-time delivery of Arc'teryx seasonal calendar. Your understanding of development cycle ensures your assigned product passed through each stage gate. Your knowledge in product construction ensures each product you work on meets Arc'teryx quality standards. This role is based out of our Arc'One manufacturing office and requires on site work. ARC'One is our laboratory. We experiment, we test, and we produce our new products all under the hustling and bustling production environment. This is where products physically come to life and come back to life through our repair center. You will work with the Engineering team that is consisted of Technical Developers – Manufacturing (TDM) and Manufacturing Engineers (ENG). TDMs are the owner of the product and ENGs are the owner of the process. TDM is the POC from design center to ARC'one, and you will play a vital role in this facility to bring our new product to life.

    Key responsibilities and accountabilities: (including but not limited to)

  • You review samples, specs and patterns, and build bundling charts.
  • You provide labour cost estimates under the guidance of Senior Technical Developers.
  • You analyze the critical quality area in a product and build mockups to determine the best parameter for bulk production and to communicate with Product Developers in Design Centre.
  • You create and maintain manufacturing BOM (bill of materials) to ensure on-time raw material purchasing and accurate material usage for assigned models.
  • You take the leading role in bringing complicated products ( Veilance) from sampling to production through collaborating with our cross-functional partners in Design Center and in ARC'One.
  • You own the arrangement and execution of internal and external kick-off and review meetings during NPI stages.
  • You work with manufacturing engineers to review their time studies to assess performance and proper efficiencies; make suggestions for sequence of constructions to maintain quality standards.
  • You work with advanced manufacturing or automatic machine technicians to develop new tooling or equipment to ensure process efficiency.
  • You collaborate with internal quality control team providing technical expertise in root cause analysis to minimize defect rates in production.
  • You support production in collaborations with assigned engineers to resolve manufacturing problems related to methods, material usage, performance efficiency, equipment, tools, dies, templates and processes.
  • You assist special projects, provide administrative support, and other duties as assigned.
  • Additional experience, education and/or skills required:

  • You have education in design or technical development with 3+ years of experience in the apparel/textile industry or a combination of education and experience.
  • You have a basic knowledge of garment construction, standards, production methods
  • You have a basic knowledge in pattern construction
  • You have a good understanding of the product development process - from prototyping to bulk production
  • You are detailed and accuracy oriented, with strong time management and organizational skills
  • You have general computer knowledge and are proficient in Microsoft Office
  • You have the flexibility to work through ambiguity and manage changing timeline and competing priorities
  • You have highly effective verbal and written communication skill in English
  • You have the ability to work well independently and as a team
  • You are able to balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You have strong interpersonal skills with ability to deal with difficult situation with tact and professionalism
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • You seek the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment

  • You have experience using Gerber or other digital pattern editing programs.
  • You have experience using CLO.
  • You have general knowledge of garment related equipment and machinery.
  • You have the ability to speak another language other than English.
  • You have knowledge of Arc'teryx's unique products.

  • $69,000 - $86,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD $69,000 - CAD $86,000 at the time of this posting.
