CBVRCE 2023 (Non-Union) CONF Pre-Primary Program Manager:

The
Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

Pre-Primary Program Manager


Salary - $74,600 to $93,250 (depending on qualifications and experience)(Band 9 of the Nova Scotia Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework)

Position Status - Permanent Full-time Non-Union position (Please note this position works 12 months annually with allotted vacation time)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS IN EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent degree) from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent management/administrative experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with preschool age children in Early Childhood Education
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which includes a 2year ECE diploma and significant experience in the supervision and management of early childhood education programs in addition to the stated experience requirements may be considered.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Literacy and working in collaboration with the school Principal, the Pre-Primary Program Manager is accountable to provide advice and guidance to the School Board for the implementation of the Pre

  • Primary program in public schools in Nova Scotia. This includes contributing to the development, planning, monitoring and evaluation of effective policies, procedures and program implementation. The Pre-Primary Program Manager will provide pedagogical leadership and direction and support in the daily operations of the Preprimary Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the planning and implementation of policies, processes, communications, change management and relationship management that enables the Pre-Primary Program to be implemented within the public school system.
  • Providing direction and support to the Early Childhood Educators (ECE), supporting them with the implementation of the Early Years Curriculum and working collaboratively with regional centre staff
  • Liaising with Principals, Operational Supervisors and Managers at regional centres, other EECD staff and community partners to ensure that programs and services are meeting the needs of children while respecting the integrity and intent of the Pre-Primary Program
  • Supporting the direction of the Pre-Primary Program and ensures accountability and effectiveness in delivering an inclusive, highquality play based early learning experience for preschool aged children
  • Managing the financial resources for the Pre-Primary Program including managing procurement activities for the purchase of materials, supplies and required resources, carefully monitoring expenditures and recoveries including invoicing
  • Establishing and continuously improving teambased environments through effective coaching, mentoring and supervising
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as OHS and Labour Standards
  • Assessing individual and group training requirements and arranging to provide training to meet these needs
