The Public Guardian and Trustee must observe prudent business practices, is bound by fiduciary principles and is ultimately accountable to the Court.

The services of the Public Guardian and Trustee extend to clients resident throughout the province and, less frequently, in other provinces and countries throughout the world.


Legal services are delivered by a complement of 14 lawyers under the direction of the Deputy Public Guardian and Trustee on substantive legal matters and under the direction of an operating division Executive Director with respect to administrative matters.


Job Requirements:


  • Must possess a law degree
  • Must be a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing Minimum call requirements: Five (5) years
    Experience:
  • Legal Counsel Level 2:


Minimum five (5) years admission to practice; minimum five (5) years current practice experience in estate and trust, personal injury, and/or adult guardianship law.


  • Legal Counsel Level 3:


Minimum twelve (12) years admission to practice; minimum five (5) years current practice experience in estate and trust, personal injury, and/or adult guardianship law.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

Experience in adult guardianship law
