Research and Development Associate
Education Required:
M.Sc or Ph.
D in Chemistry or Geochemistry and minimum of 5 years of R&D experience or B.Sc and minimum of 10 years R&D experience in ICP-OES or ICP-MS instrumentation.
Requirements:
- Five years experience in a specific field of testing
- Excellent problem solving/analytical capabilities
- Common sense, innovation and proactive
- Computer literate in a word processor, excel
- Strong interpersonal and management skills
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
- Ability to work with little supervision and supervise others
- Travel to other Actlabs' locations may be required from time to time
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities may include some or all of the following or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by the Department Manager/Production Manager.
- Perform research and development so as to improve quality, turnaround time and costs of Actlabs' methods and processes
- Research and development of new scientific processes, author SOPs for those processes, execute method validation and author validation report
- Formulate research strategy on R&D projects and oversee technicians in the execution of the experiments
- Technical improvement of current scientific processes and subsequent updating of SOPs and validation
- Provide technical training and guidance to technicians and managers with related competence testing
- Interface between QA and Operations
- Oversee root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action of data analyst and process owners
- Provide technical support to Actlabs' network of laboratories for their areas of expertise and clients
- Investigate the adequacy of current and new equipment
- Analyze data and generate final reports for non routine projects to be issued to clients. Prepare and follow quality control procedures to meet SCC accreditation requirements under ISO/IEC 17025 and SCC RGs
- Maintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment in accordance with policies and procedures

Purpose
Responsible for administrative support for the Agriculture/Life Sciences Division.
This position will be heavily focused around day to day administrative duties will play a key role to maintain industry leading customer service and sample turnaround.
