PROJECT OFFICERS:


The Design and Construction Branch is looking for Project Officers for indeterminate and temporary positions, with the possibility of extension and/or indeterminate status.

The positions are classified RÉ-05 ($68,641 to $91,072 per annum rates - salary under review.


The results of this process will be used to staff an immediate vacancy of 1 year for Design & Construction branch, as well as future similar vacancies of various lengths at the NCC.


JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will provide support on assigned engineering and architectural projects with various levels of complexity and value; in keeping with the prescribed time, cost, scope and quality requirements.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position such as Engineering, Architecture OR a combination of related education, experience and training.


EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of experience in the project management field.- Experience coordinating or managing construction projects.

  • Experience planning and overseeing contractual agreements involving general contractors and subcontractors.
  • Experience preparing Project management reports.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Of applicable environmental and safety standards and legislation.
  • Of project management theories, principles and practices.
  • Of construction cost, construction systems and materials management practices.
  • Of basic principles of engineering design and systems.

ABILITIES

  • To perform onsite inspections and provide advice to clients, consultants and contractors.
  • To negotiate and resolve disputes, complex issues with internal and external parties.
  • To communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • To interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • To work effectively with mínimal supervision within multidisciplinary teams.

ASSETS

  • Other professional designations, certifications or Project Management memberships.
  • Experience with construction projects involving heritage buildings and heritage landscapes.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Visit to construction project sites where protective equipment such as hard hats and safety shoes are required. Involves standing, walking and navigating various work terrains.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB and other linguistic profiles.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
  • The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment, all employees are currently asked to work onsite at least two (2) days per week.
