(North Campus); hybrid work environment combining in office collaboration (3 days per week) and remote working (2 days per week).


Salary:
Payband H: $33.38- $38.75


What you will do:


Reporting to the Manager, Career & Placement Services, the Field Placement Coordinator is the key conduit for contributing to the strategic plan to foster career-ready citizens.

The Field Placement Coordinator is responsible for providing essential support and services to all students in programs with Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) embedded in the curriculum throughout the university; they are also responsible for supporting the mission of the institution through the development and ongoing nurturing of industry partnerships that are integral to the delivery of WIL which could lead to other strategic partnerships.


To ensure that students have high quality experiences that build on their curriculum and prepare them for their chosen careers, the incumbent assists and prepares students for their placements through a range of activities including but not limited to delivering work-preparation workshops, resume feedback, mock interviews, job search coaching and advising.

This individual must have knowledge of specific programs within the program.


The incumbent conducts general job readiness awareness and conducts individual in-depth assessment of job search skills (using motivational interviewing and strength-based approaches) to develop rapport and establish a relationship with students to help identify field placement experience needs, concerns and barriers, related to their short and long term educational and career-related goals.

Incumbent supports students to better understand course requirements prior to the course through class visits, seminars, networking/special events, program specific education events and university recruitment initiatives.

Incumbent manages the field placement process including planning, facilitation, process improvement, and advocacy for options and services to meet student needs to promote successful course outcomes and professional development.

Key activities include researching, collecting information, making decisions, coordinating and actioning activities, reviewing, monitoring, guiding and directing students and employer partners towards outcomes.

Incumbent creates and maintains detailed Orbis software (GHWorks) and MS Excel entries / reports about student placement workflow progression from pre-placement to throughout the field placement and communicates status to students towards meeting course requirement.

The incumbent monitors registered student listing and conducts ongoing follow-up after each field placement approval stage on the Orbis software (GHWorks) towards completion over the semester.


The incumbent will promote academic programs to external stakeholders, work with employers to develop placement opportunities, review job postings, set up networking events and refer students to prospective employers.

The incumbent actively develops new employer relationships and fosters existing partnerships to increase placement opportunities for students to access, develop meaningful employment skills and gain experiential experiences.

Incumbent research recent employer contact information and cold calls employers to promote the overall university, various program portfolios, potential student fit for field placement opportunities.

Incumbent conducts ongoing follow-up for prospective field placement and career opportunities including supporting students with the Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) process, School Board and/or Ministry-relate
