Technical Service Specialist

Location:
Edmonton, Alberta and surrounding area.


Where the Chemistry Happens:


The Technical Service Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Marketing, Sales and Technical product positioning is in alignment for the Region they support.

They support sales objectives through direct interaction with the sales team and indirectly by influencing key external customers in the Region.

They are responsible for providing technical training to the sales force and key influencers within the Region. This includes training the sales Specialists on investigative field techniques and technical support with product investigation where necessary.

Technical Service Specialists look to Senior Technical Service Specialists for input on course design and training techniques suitable for adult education.


The Technical Service Specialist is also responsible for the execution of summer demand creation activities including large scale grower trials and demonstration sites within the Region.

They execute the Demonstration Strip Trial program to support the sale of InVigor canola which includes managing and maintaining site from seeding to harvest.

They are responsible for providing supportive data to meet sales objectives and address product usage questions. This includes coordinating third party testing to support label expansion.

They are responsible for monitoring and positively influencing key centers of influence (COI) in the region through relationship building and regular contact.

These include universities, consultants, provincial extension staff and retail agronomists. They provide product information, label updates, and technical results to these COI's. The Technical Service Specialist also administers local demonstration and grant programs.

The Technical Service Specialist provides the technical link to the marketplace. Regular interaction with Brand Managers, Retail and Grower Reps, Innovation Specialists, Technical Marketing Managers, and Biology is imperative. They must become familiar with new BASF products 1 year prior to market.


Formula for Success:

You Will:


  • Monitor and positively influencing key centers of influence (COI) such as universities, consultants, provincial extension staff and retail agronomists through relationship building and regular contact. Provide product information, label updates, and technical results to COI's.
  • Administer local demonstration and grant in aid programs to support business goals in the Region.
  • Manage the execution of summer demand creation activities including large scale grower trials and demonstration sites within the Region, as well as Demonstration strip trials associated with canola demand creation for InVigor.
  • Supervise Technical Service Summer Associates who support summer demand creation activities and data collection on key projects.
  • Coordinate third party research associated with third party demo sites and provide supportive data to meet sales objectives and address product usage questions.
  • Deliver training and reinforcement of product positioning with sales force through a variety of presentation tools.
  • Provide Technical support for product inquiries and carry one on one technical sales calls with key influencers.
  • Use generated field and university research data to develop tools that support marketing and sales tactics and facilitate the technical transfer of information.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for each KIP. These plans often relate to joint research projects, graduate student projects etc.
